A guide to setting up a JustGiving sponsorship page to raise funds for our All ABoard Campaign
Would you like to help the All Aboard campaign by running your own fundraising event? We'd love your fundraising expertise!
The great news is that you can now easily set up your own fundraising page through JustGiving and any donations made through that page will automatically support our campaign.
Take part in an organised event, or create your own!
Sponsored run/walk/cycle – set a distance goal and collect sponsorships
Read-a-thon – get sponsored per book, chapter or page read
Car wash – wash family or neighborhood cars for donations
Ice bucket challenge – brave a bucket of ice water for donations!
However you decide to fundraise, setting up a JustGiving page to send out to supporters is easy.
STEP BY STEP GUIDE
The following is quick guide on how to create a fundraising campaign for the All Aboard campaign:
Select to be a fundraiser by creating a justgiving account
Fill in the form with details of your fundraising campaign
Put the campaign live and share it with your supporters
Provide updates on your progress and the activities that you do
There is more guidance available from JustGiving here: justgiving.com/for-fundraising/how-to-create-a-fundraising-page and you can carry on reading below for more details too.
Here is a step by step guide on how to create your own sponsorship page
Step 1 - Open a web browser and visit the main JustGiving page
justgiving.com/campaign/all-aboard
Step 2 - Click on the "Start fundraising" button
Step 3 - Login to an existing JustGiving account or sign up for a new one
If you have an existing account then you can use that or if you haven't then follow the guidance to sign up to create a new one.
Step 4 - Enter if you are raising funds in memory of someone else
Step 5 - Provide details of the fundraising activity
In this guide I am going to select "I'm taking part in an event" but you can choose whatever is most appropriate to your fundraising activity
Step 6 - Decide how much you would like to raise?
You can set a target or select no target at all. Do what you feel is right for you and your children if they are running the fundraising campaign. Even if a target isn't reached then all of the money raised will go to Mayfield's All Aboard campaign.
Step 7 - Write what you are doing to raise money
You will be presented with a default set of content but you can edit it to make it specific to your fundraiser. In the example below I have edited the content to be specific to the TCS Mini London Marathon fundraising campaign.
Title - This will be shown in bold letters on your campaign page
Why are you raising money - This is where to give details of who you are, what you are doing and who you are raising money for. You can add images and text
Url - This is the link that you'll send out to your supporters so make it relevant to your campaign.
Note: You can change all of this content once your campaign is live so don't let it stop you from publishing if you haven't quite got your story perfect.
Step 8 - Add a cover photo or video
You can keep the existing photo or you can create a cover photo for your fundraising campaign - we'd recommend you add your own photos. It'll make your campaign come to life and let supporters know they are in the right place for supporting you.
Parents - please make sure you are happy with any photos of your children to be used online.
Step 9 - Launch your campaign!
Click on "Launch my page" to create the fundraising campaign
Step 10 - Review your page and make any changes
You can view your page and make any changes that you want to the images or text. You can do this at any time throughout the campaign
Step 11 - Share your page and start your fundraising activities
At this point your campaign is underway, so now you can do the following:
Share the link to the page to get donations from supporters
Start your fundraising activities and provide updates on the page. Photos and videos of you in action always go down well.
You can update the JustGiving page with any offline donations too so you can see how much you've raised in total for your campaign
